Environmental Statement
Awareness
It seems that you can’t open a newspaper or turn on the television these days without seeing another headline about climate change. It is difficult not to wonder what difference we can make. We have committed ourselves for change to produce the smallest carbon footprint we can and to operate in an environmentally friendly way. We strive to ensure every aspect of our supply chains meet with the exacting standard of our environmental policies. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by climate change but at least by choosing us you can feel happy that your print is responsibly produced.
Ink
All our stationery ink is based on clean vegetable oil and supplied in environmentally friendly packaging. Our suppliers have on site technology that allows mixing colours to pin point accuracy making waste close to zero.
Paper
All our sourced paper is processed using Elemental Chlorine Free technology to avoid the production of damaging toxins. Our printing paper is sourced from European Union FSC grade forests where more trees are planted for the future than are felled each year. The demanding standard of the FSC grading is seen in the industry as the Gold standard for the responsible husbandry of forests.
We are often asked about our stand against Recycled Paper. Whilst recycling paper to make Newsprint and Packaging is environmentally sound and fit for purpose, recycled paper for business stationery just makes no eco sense at all. The heat alone required in the manufacturing of recycling to produce a suitable quality consumes a huge amount of energy therefore measurably increases the carbon footprint. There is simply no ‘eco-logic’ in trying to clean ‘dirty paper’ back into pristine white sheets. Though we can source it, recycled paper is not in any of our standard materials.
Materials
Sourcing environmentally sound materials is important, but just as crucial is efficient use of those materials. In 2007 we introduced a policy of minimal overs. This means that we are using paper more efficiently and reducing the environmental impact of every job.
